3 Tips To Help Your Makeup Last Longer

It’s one thing to do a great makeup look, it’s another to make it last. Without the right prep and tools, the beautiful makeup look you created can become a patchy, separated mess. This can be caused by a variety of factors - your skin type, the makeup you’re using, the environment you live in, etc. Creating a longwear makeup look is even harder in hot climates or crowded environments (ever notice how your makeup seems to fade faster in summer or while you’re at school?) Regardless of what’s causing your makeup to fade, there are a couple of key things you can incorporate to give your makeup a long-lasting chance.

Here are 3 tips to help your makeup last longer:

1. Exfoliate in the morning before makeup application

Your makeup can only be as good as the base you give it. It’s important to apply makeup on clean, bare skin for long-lasting wear. In addition to cleanliness, it’s also important to make sure your base is smooth as well. Gently exfoliating in the morning before applying makeup helps to remove any dry, dead skin cells that can cause makeup to look patchy. Night Off Face Wash has real green tea leaves that gently exfoliate so you can one-step prep your skin in one wash!

2. Use a primer to stop makeup separation

Primer tends to be overlooked in the makeup community. Some people will tell you they're pointless and instead claim you can just use skincare/moisturizer to prep your skin. While skincare does help prep your base for makeup, it doesn’t help extend the wear of your makeup. Enter - a protective primer. One of the biggest causes of makeup deteriorating throughout the day is your skincare/sebum interfering with your foundation. A protective primer, like Pregame Primer, helps create a barrier between your skincare and makeup to deter any separation. Pregame Primer also has a patented Tannin complex ingredient that helps to reduce your skin’s oil levels throughout the day to help keep your skin’s sebum from dissolving your makeup.

 3. Incorporate a non-drying setting spray

It’s no secret that setting sprays are a crucial part of a long-lasting makeup routine, but did you know that the type of spray you choose can affect the outcome? Most setting sprays contain alcohol which can dry out the skin and lead to makeup separation. To set your makeup without stressing out your skin, look for a hydrating, alcohol-free setting spray (like Pregame Setting Spray).
