Fiona Co Chan Shares Her Go-To Beauty Routine for Summer
Summer is officially in full swing, my friends, and better yet: Mask mandates have finally been lifted, leaving us makeup-loving folks fully free to play and express ourselves all we want this season. (Did I hear someone say #GlossGirlSummer?!) With that being said, in the spirit of summer makeup inspiration, Youthforia’s founder Fiona Co Chan is sharing the quick and simple six-step beauty routine that she’s been loving as of late — including her staple sunscreen brand, how she loves to apply BYO Blush, and the shade of Dewy Gloss that she can't stop reaching for. Any guesses?
Without further ado, if you’re curious to know how Chan’s been getting ready lately, just keep on scrolling.
Step #1
The one product Chan never foregoes, whether she’s wearing makeup or not, is sunscreen, as UV exposure is not only responsible for causing skin cancer — but premature signs of aging, too. While she’s not loyal to one particular product, she is a fan of Skin Aqua’s SPFs. You can score the Korean brand’s fan-favorite Super Moisture Milk SPF 50 PA++++ on Amazon.
Step #2
Step two for Chan is primer, which she also rarely ever skips. “This is the most important step in my mind because primer can help protect your face from chemicals in your makeup, and from it interacting with sebum — plus it also acts as a shield against pollution,” she explains. In regards to her must-have primer, well, more on that later, y’all.
Step #3
For a little featherlight dusting of coverage that doesn’t feel heavy in the summer heat, Chan adores Dolce & Gabbana’s Skin Tint. “They sadly don't sell this in the U.S. but I looove it because it’s so lightweight and evens out my skin tone, and it has this amazing texture,” she says. That said, any lightweight, skin-evening product you have in your collection will work here.
Step #4
Fun fact: Chan actually has her brows microbladed (which, FYI, she regrets!) so she typically fills them in with whatever she has on hand. However, when she feels like going for the famed ~soap brow effect, she reaches for Japanese brand Utena’s Matomage Matomeju Hair Styling Stick Wax, which you can find on Amazon.
Step #5
Next up, Chan goes in with — you guessed it — BYO Blush, which is our green, color-changing blush oil that's amazing for summer because it’s super light and never feels cakey or heavy on the skin at all. “I put it on my cheeks, nose, forehead, chin... basically anywhere I can mix it in,” she says. “Right now I love mixing it with darker concealer or a bronzer for a little nose contour or when I'm doing a sun-kissed blush look.”
Step #6
Finally, to finish things off, Chan applies some of her favorite Dewy Gloss du jour: #08 Make Some Noise, which is a punchy red hue with subtle silver and gold sparkles that catch the light beautifully. “This is my go-to shade at the moment because it makes me feel bold and ready to take on the day,” she says. “It gives me confidence like no other and I always get so many compliments on this color when I wear it.”
