What Was The Inspiration For Date Night Skin Tint Serum Foundation?

Ever since I had the idea to create Youthforia and makeup you can sleep in back in 2020, I always wanted to create a foundation. I've dreamt of the perfect foundation - what it would feel like, what ingredients it would have, how it would help improve skin, what it'd make my skin look like, how it would sit on skin, but most importantly, how it'd make me feel.

The Inspiration

One of my favorite past times is going to department stores and playing at the ultra luxurious makeup counters. I remember the very first time I tried >$250 foundation textures, I kept thinking to myself, "Wow, I wish I had this when I was still dating,"

Date Night Skin Tint Serum Foundation is the foundation I wish I had on the night I met my husband. You know how when you're getting ready for a date, you reach for your good foundation And you know exactly how you want your Date Night Foundation to look and feel: it looks like your skin but better, it's long lasting, it's weightless, and most importantly, it makes you feel confident. Like you might just fall in love with the love of your life.

I wanted to create this for everyday, anytime. I love this idea of always having "Date Night Ready Skin" - like you're ready for life to happen for you.

In so many ways, I think finding the perfect foundation is kind of like "finding the one." For me at least, I knew what I wanted but I couldn't find it. When I finally made Date Night, I just knew it was a perfect match.

Glass Skin Finish
One thing that's special about Date Night Skin Tint Serum Foundation is that it has a glass skin finish. It's not a natural skin finish - it's a glass skin finish. It has a pore blurring effect and it reflects light in a beautiful way.

Of course, at Youthforia we're known for cheeks. I wanted to create a foundation that would create a natural highlighter effect, similar to how what our BYO Blush Oil does. I kept thinking about how if I was on date in a dimly lit restaurant and had gotten up from the table, how I would want the light to follow me as I moved across the room, so that my date wouldn't be able to look away.

Easy to Blend
I wanted to capture the feelings that come with getting ready for a Date Night. I kept coming back to this idea of wanting to look effortless and feel excited and confident. One of my main goals when making this foundation was to make the formula easy to blend and easy to shade match. It's so nice when your foundations just work for you, instead of the other way around.

When making this foundation I kept thinking back to when I was training under a makeup artist when I still lived in Asia. So much my training was centered around what to do if your foundation isn't working for you (i.e. how do you blend a streaky foundation). I kept thinking to myself, 'wouldn't it just be easier if we had a really nice, easy to use and easy to blend formula?'

Our Date Night Skin Tint has an amazing texture! We invested a lot on texturing ingredients because I wanted something that would melt into skin like quicksand. I've always hated how my other foundations can be really runny or streaky because that meant that it probably wouldn't last in hot, humid weather. You can tell a lot about a foundation by putting it on the back of your hand and seeing how long it takes to dry down.

From what I've learned, the perfect formula dries down in about 10-30 seconds - any less, it'll look dry and crease and any longer, it'll likely transfer or melt down your face. Here's an easy trick you can use to figure out a foundation's dry down time:

 Youthforia Date Night Skin Tint Foundation Shade Range

Our shade range consists of a flexible 15 shades. It's a mostly neutral shade range - so it might be different from other foundation shade ranges you might have tried.

This is how I think about it - imagine a scale of undertones where you have cool undertone on one side, neutral undertone in the middle and warm undertone on the other side. Most foundations with cool or warm undertones fall at the extreme ends. But when I actually look at people, especially people who regularly wear sunscreen or makeup - most aren't that warm or that cool.

Our neutral warm and neutral golden shades are great for people who are mainly neutral but tend to lean warmer. Our neutral cool shades are great for people who fall into more of a neutral to cool undertone.

Our true neutrals can flex a little bit to both undertones. They're our most versatile shades! This is perfect for those who feel that most foundations look too orange, too yellow or too pink on them.

Perfect Routine for Date Night Ready Skin

I love to first prep my skin with Pregame Primer. This acts as a barrier between your skin and makeup to create longevity by preventing SPF + oil from dissolving your makeup. After applying your skincare + SPF, use three pumps of Pregame on the back of your hand. Warm it up then apply across your face and neck to achieve a perfect canvas for Date Night Foundation.

Pregame Primer is perfect for people who want to reduce redness, decrease foundation creasing and prevent patchy makeup on your T-zone.

Date Night can be worn as a skin tint or a medium buildable coverage foundation. You can see how much coverage this provides in the video below.

For light coverage, apply with fingers and your makeup sponge. For medium coverage: use our Oval Foundation Brush.

If you have dry skin and you hate how your foundation clings onto dry patches, I like spraying Pregame Setting Spray on makeup sponge and using that to apply foundation.

This is my secret to the best skin prep step for makeup, because when you fully remove debris and dead skin buildup, foundation melts seamlessly into your skin (instead of sitting on top like a film).
